ELECTION DAY IS APRIL 1

EXPERIENCE MATTERS

Why Daniel George is the Right Daniel for Anchorage.

I’m Daniel George, your neighbor and fellow local business owner. For the past 38 years I grew up and have lived right here in District 1. I remember when Anchorage was safer and stronger because I’ve experienced it with you. I understand the reality of the challenges we are currently facing and am prepared to do my part in helping to solve those issues. I'll bring your voices and concerns to the Assembly representing the needs of our district. Make sure you're voting for the Daniel who truly knows our community.

Issue Daniel George 👍 Daniel Volland
Anchorage Roots Rooted in North Anchorage – returning back home after college to serve the place that shaped him. Grew up in the lower 48. Transplant from Seattle, WA.
Campaign Ethics Consistently has demonstrated ethical transparency and accountability. Recent APOC violation
Public Service Passionate about public service and giving back to his community. 20+ Years of volunteer and professional experience in private and public sectors for local, state, and federal government. Only got involved in the community after deciding to run for office to support his campaign efforts.
Fiscal Responsibility Supports fiscal responsibility, opposes tax increases, and advocates for transparent and accountable spending for the community. Voted to increase the Assembly’s budget by 82%, adding nearly $2 million—approving the largest city budget in Anchorage’s history, despite a declining population.
Housing & Development Experienced in housing and development—built homes in Anchorage, served on the Planning & Zoning Commission, co-authored community plans, and worked as a Realtor for eight years. Co-sponsored a 3% sales tax proposal that would increase costs for residents while prioritizing other projects like the Pilot Protected Bike Lanes that negatively impacted small businesses and increased congestion downtown.
Ethical Leadership Actively opposes conflicts of interest, promoting transparent and accountable governance. Voted to approve sole-source contracts that benefited colleagues, special interest groups, and campaign donors to Mayor LaFrance—raising serious concerns about conflicts of interest and backroom deals in city government.
Thoughtful Leadership Listens to all perspectives, values diverse viewpoints, and treats others with respect and professionalism. Committed to working with all municipal employees and community members to find real solutions. Relentlessly sows division and ideological segregation, blatantly refusing to engage with municipal employees. Publicly targeted a respected third-generation District 1 resident and 21-year municipal employee, declaring, "@votesuzanneak can quickly and easily do one thing that will help: install new, visionary leadership in the Planning Department.”
Community Representation Fought for fair representation and an additional seat to represent District 1 for over a decade, even going so far as to approach the ACLU to join the fight in 2012. Voters approved the new seat in April 2020, ensuring District 1 finally had equal representation. Only registered to vote in Alaska in August 2019, just 7 ½ months before Election Day, showing no prior commitment to the community or concern for representation.
