About
Anchorage Raised, Community Focused, Ready to Lead.
A little more about me…
As someone who was born and raised in the North Anchorage District, my roots in our community grow deep. From as early as I can remember, I attended schools in the Downtown, South Addition, North Star, and Spenard neighborhoods. I grew up on Government Hill, and later in life lived in Spenard, Mountain View, and now Russian Jack.
I count myself exceedingly fortunate that Anchorage has provided me with such incredible opportunities throughout my lifetime. I want to ensure that it continues to offer equally great opportunities for future generations.
Growing up, I participated in Camp Fire and Cub/Boy Scouts, played 2nd base for City View Little League, and even joined soccer through the Boys & Girls Clubs of Alaska. I was able to spend my days biking or cross-country skiing our trails, skating on Westchester Lagoon, or swimming in Jewel and Goose Lakes, and only really worrying about devil’s club, swimmers itch, or the occasional wildlife. Being active outdoors is one of the best parts of being a kid. I know first-hand that our green spaces are critical for residents of all ages, and our parks and green spaces are the vibrant hearts of our community. They are what keep people here, and they contribute to the livability of our neighborhoods, as well as the success of our business and visitor economies.
While this is my first time running for public office, I have already spent most of my life in service in some fashion or another. Whether in city and neighborhood planning, public and nonprofit service, within representative government, or simply collaborating with neighbors on community issues, I have the experience necessary to be a strong and effective voice for all residents of North Anchorage.
In the private sector, I’ve successfully operated as a small business owner for the past 15 years, including 8 years as a licensed Realtor. I worked my way through college during the summers as a laborer helping to construct new homes in Anchorage—including dozens of the Cook Inlet homes in Mountain View. I received a bachelor’s degree from Gonzaga University and returned to Alaska. Since then, I have served for multiple years on the Anchorage Planning and Zoning Commission, as chair of Anchorage’s Federation of Community Councils (501c3), and as President of the Mountain Community Council. I’ve helped organize community cleanups, manage a community patrol, and even helped protect some of our local parks through an act of Congress. I’ve also served as a volunteer nonprofit board member with Shiloh Community Housing, Inc., as well as with Lumen Christi High School.
I’ve had the opportunity to serve in professional or appointed/confirmed capacities at every level of government—local, state, and federal. My work has included various professional roles over the last 15 years, working as a public servant for the Alaska State House, Alaska State Senate, U.S. House, and the U.S. Senate. My peers have recognized the contributions I readily give to our community and in addition to receiving multiple citations from the Alaska State Legislature, the Alaska Chamber of Commerce honored me as one of Alaska’s Top 40 Under 40.
Through my jobs and my volunteer work, I’ve helped enact plans and solutions that improve the quality of life, accessibility, and affordability in our community in real ways.
My work in the community and professional jobs have taught me to engage all viewpoints. Good problem-solving engages opposing viewpoints. Rather than shutting down those who disagree with me, I ask, ‘Tell me more,’ and look for a way forward that works for many. This will be a refreshing change for District 1.
I’m now ready to step up and serve my city—the city that raised me—as a member of the Anchorage Assembly.
It’s time to put Anchorage
back on track together.
On April 1st, I’d be honored if you’d vote for me to bring your voice to the table.
